My team at Facebook has partnered with The Ad Council for many years to support public service announcements on behalf of nonprofits and government entities. Going into 2021, education around the COVID-19 vaccine was a big priority for The Ad Council as well as for Facebook, so we came together to address this important moment in public health through a Facebook-first PSA campaign.
The Ad Council and COVID Collaborative launched the “It’s Up To You” campaign platform in February. Working in close partnership with the CDC, they have ensured that all “It’s Up To You” messaging is rigorously vetted and backed by science.
The campaigns urge audiences to visit GetVaccineAnswers.org and DeTiDepende.org to get the latest information about COVID-19 vaccines; the ultimate goal is to help the public feel confident and prepared to get vaccinated once a vaccine is available to them.
Facebook joined this campaign, alongside more than 300 major brands, media companies, community-based organizations, faith leaders, medical experts and other trusted messengers, which makes this one of the largest public education efforts in U.S. history.
